Hi I’m Jenna, founder of the Fertility Suite, where we specialise in natural reproductive medical treatment of the highest quality. I have had the privilege to work with thousands of women and their partners at all stages of their fertility stories. Our approach combines two medical systems – Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and the contemporary biomedical model.

The women we see at The Fertility Suite so often come for their first treatment confused or overwhelmed by the plethora of information and misinformation surrounding conception. In a world with limitless access to so much information from so many sources, where do you start?

Trying is the culmination of 8 years of undergraduate study in the field of health and natural medicine, a further 2 years of post-graduate study in the field of reproductive medicine. This is combined with hours of evenings lost to medical journals and of course, the invaluable clinical hours spent in deep fertility consultation.

The purpose of this book

The purpose of this book is to provide an evidence-based framework to guide you through preconception care and decrease the time it takes you to become pregnant. Let’s take away the confusion, take away the overwhelm and start preparing for conception. Written in a conversational tone, using over 130 medical references, this information is easy to digest, clear and most crucially, reliable.

Trying is written to support you no matter where you are at with your conception story. This book will answer some of the most commonly asked conception questions:

What should I do first?

  • What supplements are proven to support fertility?
  • Do I need to test my fertility?
  • What should I eat while trying to conceive?
  • Can I drink coffee?
  • Does stress really matter?
  • What lifestyle advice applies to me specifically?

Women, this book isn’t just for you… Trying also addresses the often-ignored paternal role.  With a comprehensive dive into the health of sperm, this book explains why it’s important that men address preconception care too, and what changes are likely to have significant impact.  “

Like a lot of women in their early 30s, I had an embarrassingly low awareness and understanding of the female reproductive system and anything fertility related. I came across ‘Trying’ in my search for information and could not recommend it enough. In an age where there is a strong focus (and I daresay, pressure) on fertility and having a baby, I found Jenna’s approach incredibly refreshing. ‘Trying’ is a no nonsense, easy to digest guide to all things fertility and conception. Jenna sets out everything you need to know on the journey, from screening tests and supplements, to understanding your cycle and the impact of stress. I highly recommend this to anybody even contemplating trying for a baby.

Trying' is informative and practical without driving a sense of overwhelm or guilt. The range of information is great - Jenna provides some simple general life changes all the way through to very specific support, (for example, providing a list of questions to ask your doctor about testing!). I would encourage any woman thinking about children to read this book.

The thing I love the most – no more googling, no more forums. I love that ‘Trying’ has done the research for us. It’s clear, easy to understand and not a heavy read. Handy diagrams, checklists and quizzes made this a practical tool. Loved the chapter for my partner too. If you’re TTC and you’re over the forums and FB groups but still have questions I would recommend this book.
